Young Learners

My Child and AI: A Parent's Workshop

Your child probably knows more about AI apps than you do, and that gap is uncomfortable. This two-hour session closes it. You will try ChatGPT and Meta AI on WhatsApp yourself, so nothing feels like a mystery. We walk through what children in Class 3 to 8 typically do with AI, where the real risks sit, and which safety and screen-time settings to switch on tonight. You will learn a simple way to let AI support homework without doing the homework. You leave with a family AI agreement, drafted by you in class, ready to discuss at the dinner table.

Honest answers

Questions people actually ask

I have never used ChatGPT. Will I be lost?

No. The session assumes zero experience, and your very first AI chat happens in class with help beside you. Many parents in the room are opening these apps for the first time.

Should I not just ban AI apps at home instead?

That is your call, and we respect it. But children meet AI at school and at friends' homes anyway, so most parents find guiding beats banning. This session gives you what you need for either choice.

Will you tell me exactly which settings to change?

We walk through the settings that exist today on common apps and phones, together, on your device. Apps change often, so the checklist you take home also explains the principles, so you can find the setting even after an app update.

Can both parents attend, or should I bring my child?

Both parents or a parent and grandparent attending together works well and one registration covers your family. Please do not bring children to this one. It is designed for adult conversation, and the kids have their own workshops.
